AGM going ahead Monday 25th

The AGM will be next Monday the 25th, in the Harcourt Hotel, Harcourt Street, Dublin at 8pm

UPDATE: AGM postponed due to bad weather

Due to the bad weather we've taken the decision to postpone the AGM.
While some members may be able to attend, in order to give as many
members as possible the opportunity to attend, it makes sense to put
it off till the weather improves. The new date and time will be
arranged as soon as possible.

If there's anyone who you think may not check their email before
tomorrow evening, could you please text them to let them know?

Thanks
Shane
Secretary ECSC

Charity Santa SUP Paddle this Saturday

Calling all ECSCers, we need your help in and out of the water!

This Saturday we are doing a charity Santa SUP Paddle.
We are operating from Sandycove beach and are meeting at 11.45am. We will be dressing up in our Santa suits and paddling across to the harbour walls and back. All taking part are making a donation to the Laura Lynn Children's Hospice.

Unfortunately we don't have any boards for hire, but if you would like to join us and make a donation, do so! Get out your surfboard, kayak, windsurfer etc... and join in the festive spirit!

Also, the hospice are giving us t-shirts and buckets for the donations so if you don't fancy a paddle in the cold, please come along early and pull on a t-shirt and jangle a bucket at passers by.

Special Sale for club members in Great Outdoors

Folks,

Great Outdoors Watersports Store will be open for an extra hour this Thursday for ECSC members only. The shop will be closed to general public from 8 however we have the run of the place until 9.

I'm told we'll have a 20% discount on mostl surf gear and Albert and the lads will supply beers and wine to put us in spending mood.

They would like to give us personalised discount cards so anyone wants one please let me know asap so they can make them up.

This is a perfect opportunity to get new gear for the winter and maybe some Christmas presents.

See y'all there,

It's Christmas Party Time

Rightso surfers,

the overwhelming number of responses asked for the party to be in the wesht so that we can surf too.

It will be on Saturday 28th near Cliffony, Sligo, in a number of holiday homes overlooking Mullaghmore bay. It's a beautiful spot where we can make as much noise as we like without bothering anyone. There's a number of great surf spots within 15 minutes drive.

The houses sleep 5-6 people and a provisional price of €200 has been mentioned per house. Once we have some idea of numbers we should be in a position to haggle, however take it that it'll cost €35-€40 each for accommodation.

A local pub has been notified of our great thirst and told to stock up, and they've said we're more than welcome. There will be a taxi service organised for anyone that doesn't like the idea of walking the 10 minutes down the road.

There'll be a post pub party back at the houses with some of DJ Frank's dubious old chart hits.

The idea is that we head up on Friday night to scope it out and get some party bits together. On Saturday we'll surf, get barreled in a nice tube or two and then get dawled up for the invasion of the local pub. Then we'll dance our socks off back at the houses. Sunday will be spent surfing the cobwebs of a late night away. I'm sure the houses will be available to anyone that wants to stay up Sunday night.

This party is open to friends of members too so let me know ASAP as I need to get realistic numbers.

Party on dudes !

Oktober Social

Hey there,

this months club social will be on Thursday week, 15.10.

For a change and in honour of our wonderful German members, those upstanding pillars of community and organisation, we're going to celebrate Oktoberfest with Sauerkraut, Nockerln, Crepes, Love Apples and German Bretzels in Dublin Docklands.

As we all know, Germans are renowned for their style and trend setting fashion so anyone that wants to get into the spirit of things might get some wardrobe ideas here. I won't be dressing up, but focusing on the fine beers which apparently, ze Germans are not bad at brewing.

I'll be back to you with a meeting place once I've checked the place out.

Hope to see you all there,

Prost,
Conor O'B

*** UPDATE ***

Rightso, checked it out an it looks like great craic. Get there before 8 to be sure of getting in. Security told me that Thursday will be crazy busy and you'll more than likely have to queue if you're there later than 8:30.

Walk from where the new pedestrian bridge crosses the Liffey. You'll see a ramp that drops down to a floating platform with most of the stalls on it. There's one big main marquee and beside that, the only wooden stall is called Almhutte. That's where we'll be.

Call me on 0862935333 if you're lost.

August club social - Thursday 20th, Gingerman

Hi,

The August club social will be tomorrow Thursday 20 in The Gingerman, the same place as last month. Here's some details on it http://www.dublinpubscene.com/thepubs/gingerman.html.
It's city centre and right beside Pearse St. DART and not far from LUAS either. Would be great if people came along early, before 9.

There's going to be a few new members along and we've got the start of the serious surf season to chat about and maybe even plan some trips abroad.

See y'all there,

Conor
