NEXT SOCIAL Thursday September 13th and it is a SPECIAL ONE!

Thursday 13th September we have special guest Ben Bennett from Ben’s Surf Clinic in Lahinch giving a free 1 hour surf forecasting talk.  We have reserved the upstairs bar in O’Donoghues(on Merrion Row) for our exclusive use for the night and the talk will start at 7.30pm sharp.  Ben always provides great tips and tricks on how to read waves and get the best out of the different surf forecasting apps.

After Ben’s talk, the usual social will take place.

Ben’s talk is open to members and non-members – so spread the word!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

I was over in Portugal last week learning how to surf and it was brill but I have no idea about beaches around Dublin or conditions to look out for. Chat soon I hope, emma

  8. Sadhbh says:

Hi, I’m the same as Emma above who is interested in learning the basics and meeting new people. I don’t have my own gear yet but would love to get involved :) Cheers, Sadhbh

  9. ECSC Committee says:

    Hi Emma,
We are having an extra special monthly social… it is being held on Friday 17th August in the Loft Bar in Foley’s with our own private room and barman (further details below).

It will kick off with a First Aid Course run by Pete Conroy (cost and booking details below) at 6pm and then the social will start afterwards at 8.30pm.

The First Aid course and the social are open to members and non-members alike, so feel free to spread the word! Also, for new members signing up now, there is a reduced membership fee of €20 to join for the remainder of the year.

    First Aid Course

Before the social, Pete Conroy will be holding a First Aid Course from 6pm-8.30pm, for those who wish to attend (we would highly recommend it!). Pete is a beach lifeguard instructor and a paramedic with the Dublin fire brigade (both for 15 years) and has many other qualifications – too numerous to mention!

Pete will be giving a head to toe run-through of life threatening injuries, how to identify and deal with them, using the equipment in the first aid kit which you will be get if you sign up for the course. It will be €40 for the First Aid Course however, that includes a brand new first aid kit from Pete.

If you are interested in attending the first aid course please transfer €40 to the club account by Friday 10th August (places on a first come first served basis) and message Muireann on the forum to let her know the payment has been made. Don’t forget to put your name in the transfer or it will be treated as a club donation! For the non-members send an email to committee@eastcoastsurfclub.com for registration and payment.

    The Social

The social will take place after Pete’s First Aid Course at 8.30pm. We have booked the funky Loft Bar, 2nd Floor of Foley’s, Merrion Row (just off St. Stephen’s Green) for our own use: https://www.foleys.ie/The-Loft-at-Foleys. With this social taking place on a Friday evening there should be no excuse not to let your hair down!

We look forward to seeing you there!

    Cheers,
    Alberto
