Our forecasting talk will involve Cathal ‘Ben’ Bennet, of Ben’s Surf Clinic, Lahinch, http://www.benssurfclinic.com/ letting us know some tips, tricks and secrets forecasting surf conditions. Essentially he will explain how to read Magicseaweed, Windguru, swell charts and how to ensure you choose the right place to surf at the right time. With petrol and diesel at their most expensive ever, it’s important that us weekend warriors choose travel times carefully for clean glassy surf.

Doors open at 7:30. The forecasting session will start at 8 and finish before 9:30. There is no charge for this event yet if you pay attention, it’ll be more valuable than any hour you spend surfing.

After that we’ll go downstairs to the bar for a few drinks, and chat about the usual, trips, waves and scandal. Everyone is welcome, regulars, old members, new members or people that just want to check out the crowd before deciding if they want to join. There’s usually a gang around who miss the last bus home so don’t worry about arriving late.

are there any surf movies you’d like to see on a big modern cinema screen, with full surround sound, a surfer crowd in proper comfy cinema seats with popcorn and even the option for a glass of wine ?
Well, here’s your chance.
ECSC and The Lighthouse Cinema http://www.lighthousecinema.ie/ will come together to show your choice of film, some weeknight soon. There’ll be a standard cinema charge of €10 per film with any profits going to a charity of our choice, more than likley the RNLI.
Firstly we need some suggestions for films. Then we’ll see which is the most popular and then announce a date. ……… so get your suggestions in on the members forum. Please only suggest films you will make an effort to attend, but suggest as many as you want.

we’ll be having our annual general meeting on 26/1 upstairs here http://www.4damelane.ie/contact.html starting at 7pm.

The AGM is when we elect our committee, a group of volunteers, helping in different roles to make sure that the club runs smoothly.

We may also create new roles depending on suggestions and requests from members. Anyone interested in getting more involved with the club is more than welcome to. We always need help organising different aspects of the club, from IT support, to booking accomadation, to throwing parties, to designing literature for new members.

We’ll try get all the talk stuff finished by 9:30/10 and may have some live music lined up, yet to be confirmed.

Hope to see y’all there and hear your suggestions on how we might improve the club and make it even more welcoming for new surfers.

Well believe it or not Summer is drawing to an end but on the upside that means the Autumn swells are on their way .  It also means its time, once more, for the WCSC Longboard competition!! This is always a great weekend, Lahinch is buzzing, surf is pumping (hopefully) & there is lots of opportunities to pick up some tips as you check out the competition between your surfs…..and who knows, we may even manage to presuade one of our own to enter this year????  If anybody is interested check out the link below;
